Tickets go on sale for badminton’s season-ending Dubai World Superseries Finals
With just five of the 12 MetLife Superseries events remaining in the badminton season, tickets have now gone on sale for the Dubai World Superseries Finals taking place December 14-18.
Only the top eight ranked players in the world — in the men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles — qualify for the season-ending event at the Hamdan Sports Complex.
Tickets are priced from Dh25 per day while a pass for all five days start at Dh100.
Hans-Kristian Vittinghus, a runner-up in Dubai in 2014, is currently in third spot after his victory at the Xiamenair Australian Open in June, and the Dane is targeting a place at the Superseries Finals.
“Since making the Men’s Singles final in Dubai in 2014, it has been a big goal of mine to qualify for Dubai again,” he said. “The tournament is fantastic and I definitely want to experience that again. I think if I continue playing well and take my chances, I can do it. The victory in Australia is a big help and I hope to do well in the second half of the Superseries season also.”
China’s Tian Houwei leads the men’s ‘Destination Dubai’ rankings ahead of compatriot and two-time Olympic gold medallist Lin Dan. Reigning Olympic champion Chen Long of China is eighth in the current stadnings.
In the women’s singles category, Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon leads the way, while Taiwan’s Tzu Ying Tai occupies second, with India’s Saina Nehwal sits in third.
