INDIA // The chief executive officer and managing director of Mercedes Benz India, Wilfried Aulbur, believes the marque could be selling 50,000 cars a year in 10 years time. In an interview, with The Economic Times of India, Aulbur, who is leaving the company once his successor has been found, said: "In the future, about eight to 10 years from now, we could be selling 50,000 Mercedes cars in India every year and the total segment could double as there is a larger acceptance towards spending on lifestyle products." Aulbur has been looking for a Bollywood link to its cars, similar to the roles Mercedes cars had in Sex and the City 2, set in Abu Dhabi but filmed in Morocco. The film featured the newest E Class model, the S400 hybrid, the G Class SUV and the Maybach. Five years ago India was the smallest market for Mercedes Benz in south east Asia and middle and eastern Europe. Today it is the largest.
