Street Feast rolls into the capital this weekend, with dozens of food trucks serving up bites on the Corniche as part of this month’s Abu Dhabi Food Festival.

The three-day event will feature a wide range of fare from around the world, from Venezuelan arepas to Palestinian flatbreads.

The festival proved a big hit last weekend in Al Ain, where more than 20 food trucks dished up their specialities at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

Osid Taftanazi, the head chef at Mama’esh, is looking forward to introducing his Palestinian food to visitors who attend this weekend’s feast on the Corniche.

“We do important events in the UAE,” he says. “We wouldn’t miss the Abu Dhabi Food Festival. We serve almost exclusively Palestinian food. Our best-seller is the chilli minced-meat and cheese fatayer.”

Mama’esh opened a year ago in Dubai’s Business Bay. A second branch is set to open on the city’s Al Wasl Road next year. Taftanazi and his team will dish up their flatbreads – made with organic flour and baked in a wood-fired oven on wheels – from a pop-up kiosk this weekend.

Joyce Paglinawan, manager of one of The Shebi’s fleet of food trucks, says her team is looking forward to feeding the masses.

“We’re super ready,” she says. “We’re excited.”

The Shebi, which dishes up Indian/Lebanese fusion food, has grown quickly since its debut a year ago.

“We have seven food trucks now,” says Paglinawan. “We do events all over the country.”

Street Feast will also feature a kids’ entertainment zone, street performers, an outdoor cinema and live performances.

Street Feast on the Corniche runs from 4pm to midnight on Wednesday (December 14) and from noon to midnight on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available online at tixbox.com or at the event. They cost Dh30 for adults and Dh15 for kids under the age of 12
