The wait is finally over and there’s something in the air. Today (September 1) sees the global launch and regional release of Chanel’s much-anticipated scent N°5 L’eau. Available at Chanel boutiques and leading perfume counters, the price for 50ml bottles is Dh485 and Dh687 for 100ml.

The new fragrance, by master perfumer Olivier Polge, has been reimagined with decreased vanilla and powdery elements removed from its base. Zesty accords of lemon and mandarin have been brought to the fore and woody notes made more dynamic, while ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine are pronounced yet not cloying.

Chanel has also released a sneak-peek of the 30 and 60 second films it will unveil by year’s end to showcase N°5 L’eau. Fronting the campaign, in a video directed by Swedish director Johan Renck, is Lily-Rose Depp. The 17-year-old plays the part of a young woman who continuously reinvents herself.

Chanel says of Depp’s persona in the short films: “This young woman personifies the present time and is defined by the paradoxes of her own personality: multifaceted, both artist and muse, vulnerable and invincible. She disrupts the codes while incarnating them.”
