The ever-growing Gucci universe has expanded further to add a capsule collection for men, which will exclusively be available online at Mr Porter from May 18.

The colourful new range promises access into the charmingly eccentric world inhabited by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele.

The 43-piece collection marries the classic sensibilities of Mr Porter with the unfettered creativity of Mr Michele, who blends pops of colour and playful motifs with sartorial tailoring.

Everyday pieces are reimagined in the vivid Gucci palette of bright yellow and orange, cobalt blue and rich red. The capsule collection is made up of activewear and ready-to-wear, including blue-washed five-pocket jeans, trousers, tailored jackets, blazers and hoodies; shoes; accessories such as leather bracelets, cufflinks, ties, and scarves; and even two formal suits.

Standout pieces include a lilac fil coupé shirt, a yard wool jacquard bee crewneck sweater, a blueberry-coloured jersey zipped jacket with an embroidered tiger, and a pair of horsebit loafers.

Expect to see Gucci’s iconic motifs – the bee and tiger – as well as new additions – such as the skeleton and the cat – emblazoned across the body of a blazer or on the pocket of a pair of jeans.

A yellow Gucci label will feature across each ready-to-wear piece – a mark of this exclusive capsule collection.

For those who are slightly alarmed at the prospect of wearing tiger-head-embroidered hoodies to work, however, do not panic. Michele’s skill lies in creating pieces that are bold and full of personality, yet are well-cut and easy to wear.

Don’t believe us? Just throw on one of the daring jackets over a pair of flat-fronted dark trousers with a crisp white shirt to add a dash of rebellion to even the most suburban wardrobe.
