Made by American brand Frends and designed by Dolce & Gabbana, the multicoloured headphones, priced at Dh24,593, are adorned with floral motifs created from Swarovski crystals and beads, and finished with a pair of tasselled pom-poms.
The designers drew inspiration from post-Second World War Italy, as seen through the eyes of a tourist. The same theme formed the foundation of Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2016 collection.
The headphones are made in Italy and crafted from calf leather, base metal, resin and cotton. They form part of a wider collaboration between the two brands.
The Frends x Dolce & Gabbana Collection features several different designs, with materials ranging from gold-plated filigree to Swarovski pearls and genuine nappa leather.
Rihanna recently tweeted a picture of herself sporting a pair of Frends x Dolce & Gabbana headphones featuring embellished leather and a gold crown. As a result, that specific set of headphones, priced at Dh32,674, sold out within 24 hours.
Frends, which specialises in creating headphones for women, was launched in 2011. It currently offers two main lines — Taylor headphones and Layla headphones, in materials such as gun metal and rose gold — in addition to a collection created in collaboration with Swarovski.
The headphones are currently available for purchase from ModaOperandi.com.
