We spend a year of our lives looking for lost items, according to the National Association of Professional Organizers. Living in a disorganised home isn’t conducive to peace of mind. Here are some simple habits for a mess-free, stress-free life.
Everything should go back where it belongs. Whether it’s shoes, clothes, books or dishes, placing items in their allocated spot eradicates clutter.
Putting items in boxes or trays keeps everything tidy and compartmentalised. A special tray for all your remote controls means you’ll always know where to find them. This method can be adapted to most items, from jewellery to shoes and even kitchen gear.
Paper piles up and isn’t fun to deal with. Since almost everything is available online these days, from menus to mail, there’s no need for stacks of paper. Use cloud storage such as Drive or Dropbox for easy access to all your information and even photos. Adapting a minimalist lifestyle offers you space and clarity. And to sustain a clean home, don’t forget to dust and vacuum regularly.
