Sometimes it's best to stick with the family name.

In his quest to further his career, the Atlanta R & B artist Bobby Wilson changed his name to the smoother Bobby Valentino (as he was due to be born on Valentine's day but was late by nearly two weeks) and released the hits Slow Down and Tell Me.

An English singer-songwriter, who has been recording and performing also under the name Bobby Valentino for 35 years, didn't appreciate the success of this young upstart.

A lawsuit forced Valentino Jr to change his name to Bobby V.

Whether it's the name or the songwriting quality waned, V's momentum considerably slowed down despite releasing two more albums under his new moniker.

While albums sales may be petering out, it's good to see V can still deliver a solid performance on stage.

Last week the 31 year old arrived to Dubai's Chi at the Lodge for an energetic set reminding audiences that while the hits ran dry, he can still work a sweat on stage.

The crowd, made up of regular clubbers and V fans, enjoyed the half an hour performance which saw V play his favorites as well as new tracks from his latest release

However, he remains his best at his smoothest. His silky take on the Timbaland-produced
