Star Wars director Rian Johnson sued

Rian Johnson hasn't finished directing Star Wars: Episode VIII, but he's already being sued over the film. Johnson's agent Brian Dreyfuss, is suing for breach of implied contract, claiming the director has refused to pay his 10 per cent commission. According to the complaint filed on Friday in Los Angeles, Dreyfuss began representing Johnson early in his career and helped him land jobs writing and directing top projects, including Looper and Breaking Bad. Dreyfuss claims that in 2002, he agreed to represent Johnson in exchange for 10 per cent commission on any and all projects he facilitated, including "renewals and/or options that are exercised or contracts that have been renewed". – IANS

Prince to write his first book

Prince has announced that he will be writing his first memoir. The 57-year-old artist is one of the most successful musical performers of all time and also one of the most prolific – having released four albums in the last 18 months. “This is my first [book]. My brother Dan is helping me with it. He’s a good critic and that’s what I need. He’s not a ‘yes’ man at all and he’s really helping me get through this,” Prince told the audience at a concert in New York City. The book is due to be released next autumn. – AP

Jack Lowden to play Morrissey

Morrissey, the British ­singer-songwriter and frontman of The Smiths, will be portrayed by 25-year-old Jack Lowden in Mark McGill's upcoming biopic Steven, which takes its title from the singer's little-used first name. The project was announced in 2014 but filming is set to start in April. The date of release has not yet been announced, The Guardian reported. Lowden, who took on the role of soldier Nikolai Rostov in the BBC's hit adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's classic novel War and Peace, will perform songs including the Smiths's single This Charming Man in the film. – The National staff

Frozen 2 is underway

A sequel to the Disney smash hit Frozen has been written and crews are about to start recording, according to Entertainment Weekly. Kristen Bell, who voices Princess Anna, says she's expecting to return to record for the highly anticipated second movie later this month. The actress told Collider during a recent interview that the cast is "just about to" start recording. "They've just written it and they're still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month. The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn't just put something out to put it out. That's why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one." – The National staff

Jackie Chan in Jaipur today

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has confirmed that Jackie Chan will arrive in India today to film scenes for his upcoming movie Kung Fu Yoga. Sood, who shares screen space with Chan in the action comedy, told reporters in Dubai at the Times of India Film Awards ceremony that Chan will be stay in Jaipur for 15 days. Afterwards, both actors will travel to Beijing for the second leg of the filming schedule. Kung Fu Yoga is part of a three-film agreement signed between the two countries during Chinese president Xi Jinping's visit to India. The film is directed by Stanley Tong. – IANS
