Pakistani satirist Anwar Maqsood will be returning to Dubai with a new play on the life of soldiers deployed to safeguard their country.

The playwright, who was in Dubai last year with Anwar Maqsood Ka Dharna, toured with the new play Siachen all over Pakistan and will be staging it at Ductac- Mall of the Emirates — from this Thursday until Saturday. The plays is directed by Dawar Mahmood and produced by KopyKats Productions.

The story is set in the 20,000 feet high mountain of Siachen where a team of soldiers are bidding farewell to their families. From there the joys and sorrows of the servicemen unfold, as they try reminisce about time with loved one and entertain themselves, while keeping their territory safe.

“We wanted to touch on a meaningful subject that would capture the emotions of the audience,” says Maqsood. A soldier’s life is solely based on obeying and moving on, even if it means not knowing where he is heading off to. This is where the story of Siachen begins.”

Siachen will be staged at Ductac — Mall of the Emirates from March 17 to 19. Tickets are from Dh150 on www.ductac.org
