Kaiser Chiefs, Travis and The Charlatans to play Brit-centric Party in the Park in Dubai
A Brit-tastic line-up of vintage guitar acts will perform at Party in the Park on November 11.
On what will be a dream bill for expats of a certain age, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis and The Charlatans will perform at the festival, which will be hosted by Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
Upbeat Leeds indie quintet Kaiser Chiefs are best known for their hits Ruby and I Predict a Riot, mid-2000s anthems marked by big guitar hooks and catchy choruses.
Scottish band Travis’s successful brand of MOR (middle of the road) acoustic pop stretches further back, to 1999, when they scored inescapable radio overplay with the trio of tracks Turn, Driftwood and Why Does it Always Rain on Me?, all from 2.7-million selling album The Man Who, their second album after 1997’s Good Feeling. Their eighth studio album, Everything at Once, was released in April. Both acts last appeared locally at early 2012 editions of the Sandance festival.
Finding fame amid the turn-of-the-1990s “Madchester” scene, The Charlatans boast the greatest heritage of all, having produced 12 studio albums, the most recent of which was last year’s Modern Nature. Their biggest hits include One to Another and North Country Boy.
They performed at Dubai’s Chi@The Lodge in 2009.
The line-up was announced on-air and in social-media posts by Dubai 92 radio. Tickets, priced from Dh350, will go on sale today from 9am.
