Kadim Al Sahir will headline the second annual Sharjah World Music Festival, which runs in the emirate from January 16 to 25.

The Iraqi artist and mentor on the talent show The Voice will open the festival with a performance at the Al Majaz Amphitheatre.

Presented by Sharjah Investment Development Authority (Shurooq) and organised by Furat Qaddouri Music Center, Sahir will top an international line up that includes Syrian singer Lena Chamamyan and Lebanese artist Oumeima El Khalil.

“Sharjah has always been known for paying attention to culture and art through organising festivals and fairs for diverse genres of art and literature,” Sahir said in statement.

“I am thrilled to perform at the inaugural concert of the 2nd Sharjah World Music Festival, which has garnered local and regional attention in a short span of time since its inception.”

As well as the Al Majaz Ampitheatre, the festival will be held in four other Sharjah venues such as the Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba, Heart of Sharjah and The Flag Island.

Further announcements regarding the line up will be made soon. Tickets will be made available shortly on www.ticketmaster.ae
