MEFCC’s guests are always the biggest attraction, with question-and-answer sessions, workshops, meet-and-greets and signing sessions. Sessions with the most popular stars can be very popular, so get there early if you want to be sure of a chance to meet your hero. Here are the big stars who will be there this year – check the MEFCC website for exact times and locations of their sessions, along with other guests and any late additions.
Best known for his role as Jaime Lannister in HBO’s smash-hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones, the Danish actor’s appearance at MEFCC comes just weeks before season six begins on April 24. Coster-Waldau has also appeared in movies including Black Hawk Down, Wimbledon and Gods of Egypt.
Back to the Future’s inimitable Dr Emmet “Doc” Brown makes his MEFCC debut. Lloyd is much loved for his role as Michael J Fox’s mad-scientist pal in the hugely successful trilogy, but he has had a long and distinguished career, with roles in 1970s and 1980s sitcom Taxi, and films including One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, The Addams Family and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He has three Emmy Awards to his name.
Frost is one of the UK’s biggest comedy exports, thanks mainly to his regular collaborations with Simon Pegg in Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End (aka The Cornetto Trilogy), along with alien-buddy movie Paul and the sitcom that brought them early fame, Spaced. Frost also appeared in films Attack the Block – which also gave John Boyega (Finn in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) an early role – Cuban Fury and the upcoming The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and on TV in the long-running BBC sci-fi hit Doctor Who.
American actress Glau has become a fixture playing strong female characters in TV sci-fi shows, most notably as River Tam in Firefly and its film sequel Serenity, cyborg Cameron in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Tess Doerner in sci-fi drama The 4400, and a the villainous Isabel Rochev on superhero drama Arrow. A professionally trained ballet dancer, Glau is known for her fight scenes, and has trained in kung fu and kick-boxing.
WWE wrestler Orton was mentored by Triple H and Ric Flair, and became the youngest ever World Heavyweight Champion under their tutelage at just 24 years of age.
