Al Ain returns to old 'lucky' Al Qattara stadium

From Amith Passela, on the scene in Al Ain:

Al Ain have moved all their fixtures to their old pitch at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Al Qattara for an indefinite period due to the ongoing maintenance work at the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium.

Khalid Mustafa, the club's media officer said the club has approval from the UFL competition committee to play all their games in Al Qattara until the new stadium is ready. A time frame for that was not known.

The old pitch is the one deemed to be their lucky stadium, both by the players and fans. They had continued to play their games in Al Qattara, even two years after the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium was completed in 2003.

Al Ain have the best fan following and tonight's opening match has filled three-quarters of the 14,000 capacity stadium. The official count will be known 70 minutes into the game.
